Vollmann wants to increase its workforce with a planned expansion

A committee of experts was briefed on-site about the company's plans at Gevelsberg

Gevelsberg. (Mo) Yesterday evening the committee for employment and economic development was able to view the perfect example of an expanding, investment-friendly local company. Otto Vollman GmbH had issued this invitation in order to present the plans for a new development on Rosendahler Strasse / In den Weiden / Gewerbestrasse.

The Gevelsberg architect Peter Nau, who works in Wuppertal, designed the new buildings for a plot of land which covers an area of approximately 7,000 m2. Axel Vollmann explained to the committee how moving into these new premises could bring positive benefits in terms of job creation. "In 1995 we expect to have between 105 and 110 employees." The company currently employees 82 staff at this site. Vollmann is primarily involved in the manufacture of electrical lampholders. Around 150,000 are produced every day.

In the new premises, which will house a dental practice, the company will also manufacture new products. In 1990, turnover was more than 27 percent up on the previous year.

Professor Benkert (Herdecke University) is to draw up a partial concept for the Ennepe-Ruhr district within the framework of the "Zin Project" (a future-oriented initiative for the regions in North Rhine-Westphalia). The district belongs to the Hagen region, excluding the towns of Witten and Hattingen. The project work involved here includes technology transfer, improvements in infrastructure, environmental protection and industrial land requirements.
