From 27th to 30th October 2003, the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, the largest lighting trade fair in Asia and fourth largest in the world, presented a vast range of products across three exhibition levels. This event is now in its fifth year and on this occasion attracted 742 exhibitors from 22 countries.
BIG - the visitor numbers speak for themselves
Despite the initial feelings of uncertainty
that followed separation from the well-attended Hong Kong Electronics
Fair, the event organisers were delighted to announce a 39% increase
in visitor numbers on the first day of the trade fair in comparison
to the previous year. ... The overall comments reached almost euphoric
levels, most particularly in Hall 1, where the European companies
were represented -a somewhat unexpected response in view of the
economically fraught situation in Europe.
Bright - more exhibitors means more light
Together with the lighting fair, the Hong Kong International Hardware and Home Improvement Fair also took place this year for the first time. The event was attended by 151 exhibitors from 8 countries. The success of the trade fair was not only down to the greater space allocation, which allowed 58% more exhibitors in the lighting sector, but also to the synergy that the HKTDC had hoped would be gained through the combination of these two sectors.
Pretty - lighting garden
The lighting garden made its premiere at the entrance of the HKCEC.
It was fitted out by the exhibitors with the most diverse of products
and provided the perfect lunchtime retreat for many visitors.
Professional - the perfect support programme
The event organisers introduced yet another new development in the
form of a support programme consisting of 3 seminars. Alvin Tse,
Philips Lighting Asia, presented a report in Cantonese - with English
subtitles - on LED technology and its range of applications.
